CVG got a complete overhaul in 2013, moving on from the heavy red looking site, to something a bit lighter, both technically and visually. With new branding, lots of white space and larger imagery it's really a step up from what existed before, visually - the editors love the new layout features and articles are now much easier to read, and are beautiful by default!
On the technical side, the site is fully responsive - a first for a UK games site - is built using SCSS and BEM syntax (thanks to @csswizardry) and features lots of lazy loading to keep network traffic down when it's not needed. We also re-wrote about 90% of the underlying code, modularising a metric ton of .php, so it's also a lot easier to maintain and update, and add new features when they're needed.
Extending the branding is one of my favourite things about the new logo - there a GTA V version of the logo (used for CVG's GTA 5 o'clock show on YouTube) which is instantly recognisable as CVG, but with a twist that ties it to the content.
