Portfolio. Where the magic happens.
Aware Monitoring
Aware Monitoring is a new server monitoring service that's launching at FOWA 2009, spearheaded by Nick Barker and Simon Oxley - I was asked to design the website, and the app itself. When Nick first contacted me (via a random LinkedIn connection through Mel Kirk) I was deep into another project, and couldn't dedicate the time needed to produce what they wanted, but luckily for me, about 6 weeks later their alternative designer had fallen through and when Nick asked again, I jumped at the chance to get involved.
Rarely do you get projects where you're given free reign to design as you want, and please the customer at the same time, but thankfully this one worked out that way - I had very few notes back to change anything I did, and those I did get were obvious *headdesk* moments on my part. Nick and Simon (and I) were very pleased with the style, and I think the white-space-happy design of the app itself (check back for screenshots of that soon) is fairly current, and pretty fresh (just like the Prince of Bel Air).
I'm very happy with the outcome, and hopefully the app users will be too - only time will tell on that side I suppose - but if every project I get is like this one, I can die a happy(er) man.
